Team Beehive was started in 2014 with the sole purpose of cycling 150 miles from Hammond LA. to Percy Quinn MS. raising money for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) research, services and more. We are happy to announce we are riding those 150 miles again this year. Team Beehive has raised over $43,000 since they started riding in 2014.
We ride for several people we know afflicted with MS, and for those dear to our hearts. We would like to introduce a few of these special people to you, Dana, Mike and Jack each suffering from a different level of MS.
Dana was diagnosed 25+ years ago with MS she worked as a barber stylist 30 plus years, she recently retired 4 years ago and is now confined to a wheel chair full time and struggles every day. Dana needs assistance with household chores. She has minimal use of her legs and right arm just cooking a meal is extremely hard.
Jack was diagnosed 20 years ago. He is in a wheelchair, does not have use of his left hand and has memory loss along with cognitive problems. Even the smallest tasks are a struggle. Jack has tried several MS drugs, he is very hopeful on the outcome of current research.
We also ride in honor of Ann Moffitt 2017
Ms. Ann Moffitt, passed away from complications of Multiple Sclerosis. Ann was a wonderful lady who served our fallen soldiers as a combat military nurse, and later in life as one of the best and most highly regarded nurse anesthetists in Baton Rouge working primarily at the OLOL Medical Center. She and her partner never hesitated to take on the most challenging cases, especially caring for pediatric surgery patients, a specialty often shunned by her contemporaries because of their complexity and inherent dangers. Ann was a sweet and wonderful lady, who eventually had to quit working when she began having trouble standing and maintaining her balance. Her love and bravery served her fellow humans well during her life, and I consider it an honor for us to ride in her memory. Please help me in honoring her as we ride this year and every year after that……
Dana, Mike and Jack fight on like so many others in hope that there will be an end to Multiple Sclerosis!
